Phoenix says: "Use It Wisely"...We Agree!

Posted by admin in Untagged

We here at DevilWash really like what "Water Use It Wisely." is doing in Phoenix. Instead of just telling people how to save water they are actually giving tips on how to make it happen!

Over the years they have put together a massive campaign to educate people on what they can do to pitch in. I like this approach because it does not involve a massive change in your everyday life. Just like tightening a bolt on your leaky faucet you can pick up a phone and call DevilWash. Since our service uses up to 90% less water than our competitors, you are doing your part simply by choosing us over an old-fashioned company!

We offer the same great service as the old fashioned methods but in and environmentally friendly way! So if you want to keep your concrete clean and your drinking water abundant just give us a call!

Stay Clean,

First Impressions Are Everything

Posted by admin in Untagged

The Importance of Curb Appeal

Everyone has a first impression. We all remember the first time you saw that girl you wanted to ask to prom in High School, the first time you saw that car on the showroom floor and you knew you had to have it, or the first time you met your dentist. The point is everything has a first impression and they all make an impact on the way we feel and think. Whether we know it or not, a first impression is hard to get over. Sometimes we acknowledge them and other times we breeze right through a first impression but in the back of our minds we remember.

When most people think of a first impression, they picture themselves dressed in business attire for that big interview or all dolled up for that first date. The same rings true for your business. A customer pulls into the parking lot of your strip mall or office building and they look. Is the building new? Does it look well kept? If it isn’t, they may simply brush it off, but we all know that when we pull up to a property that is well kept, we say, “This place is nice!” In the best of terms, it is a selling point.

As a bar owner and tenant in strip malls myself, I understand the importance of curb appeal. From a freshly rinsed parking lot to a gum free walkway and patio, my customers value the appearance of the place they are dining and shopping at. Whether it is your tenants, your tenant’s customers, or your own self, everyone wants to go somewhere fresh, clean, and new in appearance. Sales will increase, the structure will last longer, and tenants will be fighting over the opportunity to open up shop. Don’t be fooled by a full house of tenants either. Believe it or not, that lease will soon end and if the tenant has found a nicer place to go, they WILL go. That leaves you with an empty storefront and lost revenue. Not to mention that guy who lives in the neighborhood behind your strip mall or office building has been thinking of opening a store in the area. He has shopped at your complex before and notices the lack of cleanliness. They decide to go with the strip down the street. Successful business is not about the here and now, it is about the future. You can make all the money in the world now, but if you have to spend that money down the road just to stay afloat, then you are missing the boat. DON’T LET THAT HAPPEN!

The importance of curb appeal will help you now with current tenants and customers, will resonate with future customers and tenants, and will leave you proud to be the owner, landlord, or property manager of the best looking real estate around. This is where DevilWash can help. We can manage this process for you, at a price that you can afford, and at your convenience. No job is too big or out of our realm of expertise. We are fully EPA Compliant, all green, and more efficient and CHEAPER THAN IN-HOUSE!

Automotive Detailing...How Does it Work?

Posted by admin in Untagged

So often people ask the question “Why would I want to get my car detailed? I can take it to the gas station and have it cleaned for 20 bucks!”  Well, this is a valid point, if you just want to blow off the dust I suppose.  However, now you have to consider, how much do you like your car?  How long do you want that paint to shine like it should? Do you like those waterspots on the windows? Do you mind the stains left behind from the bird poop? What about those coffee stains on the carpet?

If you answered those questions the way I imagine you did, then let’s discuss what detailing your vehicle entails, and how it can really help prolong the life of that expensive thing in the driveway.

Here are the services that we provide in the detailing package:

1.) Hand Wash - This is the same as what you might do in your driveway, however much different from those machines you find at your local car wash.
  • Those car washing machines that claim to be “soft” will not only scratch your car, but can also leave dents and REMOVE parts like mirrors and antenna’s.  Ever notice that little waiver hanging on the wall relieving them of liability from any damage? It’s there for a reason.

2.) Caranuba Wax - This is a very important step.  We use a high-grade Caranuba Creme Wax that not only cleans and removes small imperfections, but will also protect your paint and clear coat from that devastating sun damage that we see all too often here in the Valley.
  • It is recommended that you wax your car every six months, at a minimum, to help protect it from the damage caused by the sun, and keep that paint looking new for years to come.

3.) Sand, Buff, and Polish Minor Scratches - You know those scratches that develop from people walking past your car in the parking lot and scraping it with their jeans? Or when your dog jumps up and runs his nails down the door?  These can be fixed without getting it painted! When we detail your car, if you so desire, we will do our best to remove these scratches and imperfections from your paint, leaving it looking like new!

4.) Clean and Dress Tires and Wheels - Notice when your car hasn’t been cleaned in a while that the wheels start to turn black? That’s not just dirt that’s causing the problem, It’s also due to buildup of brake dust that occurs any time you apply the brakes while driving.  We use environmentally safe cleaners, and water based dressings to clean and protect your wheels and tires.
  • The high-quality, water-based dressings we use will leave your tires protected and looking new without spreading all over the rest of your car like the silicone-based ones you find at Wal-Mart.

5.) Clean Windows - We use high quality window cleaners and several cloths to leave your windows looking brand new and water-spot free.

6.) Detail Motor Compartment - When was the last time you looked under the hood? Was it really dirty?  The motor compartment is one of the most neglected areas of a car because people rarely ever see it.  When we detail your car, we will clean and detail the entire motor compartment making it look better than it did when it came home from the dealer.

7.) Vacuum and Shampoo Carpets and Floor Mats - Ever wonder how much dirt your carpets collect and hold onto over time? Think those soda or coffee stains are just stuck there forever? Let us help! With our environmentally safe detergents and extraction equipment, we can make your carpets look and smell like new again!

8.) Clean and Dress Interior Panels - Every time you touch something inside your car, a little bit of grease and dirt get left behind.  Over time, this tends to noticeably build up in some high-traffic spots inside your car.  With this final touch, we can remove that built up dirt and grime from the dash and all the panels inside your vehicle, and top it off with a dressing that will make it shine like new and protect it from the sun.

Want to get your car detailed? Give the DevilWash team a call and we will make it look new again!

Pressure Washer Nozzle Selection w/Chart

Posted by admin in Untagged

So my pressure washer came with four nozzles and I lost one, I can just grab some more from the store right?

Sadly no, its not that easy. Since different pressure washers have different specs the size of the nozzles also very. The way a pressure washer works is that the pump has a constant output volume (measured in gallons per minute or GPM) and a variable pressure (measured in pounds per square inch or PSI).

While the pressure can be varied by the engine speed it is best left to the nozzle size or “orifice diameter”.  This keeps the pump and motor at the RPM they were designed to operate at, thus reducing stress on both components (the two most expensive parts of your machine).

So now that you aren’t going out to buy just any nozzles which ones should you buy? Well that all depends on the specs of your machine. First go check out your machine and find out what it is capable of, all you need is a GPM and a PSI then you can refer to this chart:

(Disclaimer: I did not create this chart)

Notice that the PSI is listed on the horizontal axis and the GPM ratings are in the matrix. Find your desired PSI, go down to your pump’s GPM and then go left to your nozzle size! Remember going up in a nozzle size will just give you less cleaning power, however going down in size will over pressurize and damage your system!

If you are using a surface cleaner with a rotating bar make sure you divide your nozzle size from the chart by the number of nozzles you are using. Otherwise you won’t get enough pressure!

All of these nozzles can be special ordered from your local pressure washer store or can be found online under the keywords “quick connect nozzles” or “pressure washer nozzles” Pricing is usually about $7 each so buy a few if you are forgetful with them.

If all else fails and you are in the Phoenix metro area just give us a call and we can take care of all of your pressure washing needs!

Have a great day and happy cleaning,

Three Time Management Tools for Student Entrepreneurs

Posted by admin in Untagged

Many things in my life fluctuate up and down but one thing stays constant: I don't have enough time. Here are a few things I use to stay on track:

1. Google Calendar: If you are not using some sort of cloud calendar you need to start now. I can access AND edit my calendar from my iPhone or any computer. There is no longer an excuse to miss meetings. Google calendar or gCal as I call it has tools for invitations, reminders and alerts. Start using it and put your life into it. Don’t just put your meetings in it, put your classes, your gym time and when you are going to wake up in there. You can also share this via URL and color code it within the system.

2. Don’t schedule back-to-back-to-back activities: You will burn out. This is just like working out; if you spend too much time in the gym one week you will not want to go in the next. Arrange your work/ school schedule so that there is some time in there for you to sit down and watch a movie or go for a run.

3. Work out: I know this sounds like it will just end up taking more time but it has been tested by hundreds of business leaders. Even getting 20 mins of activity a day will give you much more energy. Every time I feel lazy I remember that Richard Branson swims around his island everyday. If that isn’t a motivator I don’t know what is.

Hopefully these help! If there are any tools you could suggest to me please email at:zach.hamilton@devilwash.com

Higher pressure cleans better...right?

Posted by admin in Untagged

Walking through the power washer section of a big box store is a lesson in things that don't matter. All of the products are listed by PSI, while PSI is a factor in cleaning ability it is far from the main criteria.

Generally power washers are listed by two criteria, PSI and GPM. PSI stands for pounds per square inch and GPM stands for gallons per minute.

Gallons per minute is higher on this list than PSI, the volume of water that is used to clean will allow you to clean much more surface. PSI will only allow you to clean that small amount of surface really deep.

So you are probalby asking what the key is to high speed, high quality cleaning.

Heat.

Think about it, when you wash dishes you don't use cold water? You scrub the grime and grease off of that pan with a stream of hot water to help. Concrete works the same way. Contaminants that are stuck to the surface have bonds that need to be broken, the best way to break these bonds is heat.

The ideal system for you depends on how much concrete you are planning to clean. PSI never needs to exceed 4000psi for any type of concrete cleaning. GPM should be above 3 for decent work speed. Now for the defining factor...heat.

Some manufactures claim that their machines can generate 230-240 degree water. Sorry, water outside of a pressure vessel can't go over 212 degres. Otherwise it will flash to steam and reduce your cleaning ability. We use a water temp of about 200 degrees, we have found it is able to break the bonds on the surface but does not flash to steam.

If you have any questions about pressure cleaning I would be more than happy to help you. Also if you feel your job is too big to tackle yourself we would be happy to come out and help. You might find our prices can beat your cost of doing in-house cleaning!
